Archaeological Sites

Palma Sola

The area is blanketed in 2,000-year-old petroglyphs, executed by the Yopes , Acapulco's earliest known inhabitants in the early Preclassic period. Stone steps with intermittent plazas for viewing the ancient art are set along a path through virgin vegetation.
A cave used as a ceremonial center is atop the mountain, more than 1,000 feet above sea level and definitely worth the visit. The site is still being studied by the National Institute of Archaeology and History.
Situated in the area known as the antitheater of of the Bay of Acapulco, this area offers the visitor an interesting gathering of huge rocks carved with many different images, among which are human figures in diverse poses. Visits from Monday to Sunday from 10:00 to 6:00PM
