Banderas Bay, Mexico's largest bay, has some of the best sportfishing in the world. Anglers from around the globe return here each year to see if they can beat last year's big catch. The 40-mile-wide bay has depths up to two miles, which makes it a perfect place to find sailfish, mahi-mahi, dorado, marlin, tuna, roostertail and red snapper.
Dolphins and whales - November to March - are also seen in Banderas Bay, which makes sport fishing an even bigger adventure. Numerous charters are available year-round on small pangas to large trawlers with fly bridges. Arrangements can be made for parties of one to a dozen for half- or full-day fishing.
