Handcrafts (Artesanía) can be found from the very inexpensive to the exquisitely crafted antique. Ki Huic (say key wick), a large flea market; Coral Negro, a flea market in the Hotel Zone; Mercado 28, one of the largest markets downtown.

KI-HUIC
Ki Huic is on Av. Tulum with 100 shops. This open-air market is open daily from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., and is the city’s oldest. Souvenir shoppers will find goods such as leather, pewter, carved wood, pottery, hammocks, rugs, baskets, and traditional Mexican clothing items like huaraches (sandals) and huipiles (colorful, embroidered Mayan dresses). This is a great place for visitors to practice their bargaining skills.

MERCADO 28
Mercado 28 is a good place to soak up a little local atmosphere. There are stalls of Mexican pottery, silver jewelry, clothing, rugs and blankets, herbs and remedies, food, and much more. Visitors should have their bargaining skills ready.
